Sorry we haven't blogged in a while. We have had some other things going on that have been taking up our time, many of which I would like to blog about today.
First, if you have visited MamaLlama Ding-Dong's blog, you would know that Adam is a creative (and hardworking) genius. From Christmas until Valentines Day, he had been working everyday on a slide show of our relationship titled "The Adventures of JennAdam". He wanted to get it done in time for my family's visit during the President's Day weekend. As a participator, wife, and fresh-Dr. Pepper-fetcher during this undertaking, I am the most qualified to hand out praise. Although my mom has given a raving two-thumbs up review, I'd like to add my two thumbs. (Haha that's my one for the day)
Not only does the slide show flow to the music, it matches lyrical cues. It is never skimpy on pictures used, as Adam had to filter many of them out because there were vast amounts to choose from. He touched up, edited, and fixed every photo used to be sure to bring out all the best parts and make the viewing enjoyable. Every song was carefully selected from a music collection so large he can't fit even a fraction on his iPod all at once. A couple of the songs were edited by my talented husband and I dare any of you readers to point out where the changes were made. Adam made the seams fit so perfectly that we use the edited songs on our regular listening playlist and I can never remember where the edited parts are. Even the credits are a treat to watch as he added personal elements and humor to a usually boring part of the movie-watching experience.
I could go on and on about this amazing video, but this post is already getting long and I haven't mentioned his other achievements yet. Such as... Valentines Day.
Valentines Day was perfectly romantic as my husband surprised me with his thoughtfulness and attention to detail. He gave me a bouquet of my favorite flowers (pink and white gerbera daisies), a stuffed doll of my favorite Pokemon (Pacharisu, in case you are wondering) which I was amazed he remembered which one I preferred, and picked out a wonderfully mushy chick-flick to watch after our romantic dinner (the dinner was my part to take care of). All in all, my hubby is the best in the whole world.
Also on Valentines Day, my family, who were in town (as I mentioned they would be earlier in the post) dropped by a surprise valentines package. Which was very sweet of them.
They arrived in town that Friday evening. Mom dropped by without warning to surprise us at our apartment, then we went over to my grandmother's place where they were staying to see everybody else. It was chaos. That is the only word. Well, happy too. Happy Chaos. The dogs were going nuts, so was mom, and we were all trying to catch up on 7 months with everybody at the same time.
On Sunday, Adam was very sick and we were only able to attend Sunday School. The rest of the day was spent at home, trying to get better. Poor guy.
Monday we went over to Ty and Cami's place where my family was also staying (Ty and Cami were in California at the time). I played my mandolin (very poorly, I might add, but I was nervous), listened to Noah play some of the songs he has written on the guitar, played Apples to Apples, and talked ourselves blue. We then all went to a delicious dinner at Sizzler with Adam's parents as our charming hosts. After that, my family toured their remodeled house.
Wednesday we loaded up a truck with all the rest of their possessions that were being stored in my grandmother's garage and they departed. It was a wonderful visit and we look forward to the next time we get to see them.

Well, even after that wonderful explanation of all the work that went into "The Adventures of JennAdam" I'm sure I still don't comprehend how much work it must have taken. I had forgotten to mention in my post that we had all noticed the music, not just how the timing was so perfect, but that the music selections were so perfect for the pictures that were being viewed at the time. I'd never heard some of them before, and hearing the words, and how they went soooo well with the pictures was a read added treat.
I would have liked to hear more about your part of Valentine's Day Jenn. What did you make, did Adam like it, was there any special reason you chose what you did????? Yet it is so wonderful to know that you, Adam, are a sweet romantic and that you know our Jenn so well. According to the pictures I saw, you make her smile a lot. What more could I ask for!

Jenn got me my favorite stuffed Pokemon. We apparently saw them at the same time and we both made mental notes to go back later.
Then she got me a video game, because I like video games (duh!), and because last year I told her a silly story about the one time Melanie got Bret a game for Valentine's Day a few years ago, so Jenn has made video games a Valentine tradition of sorts. However, just like the game Melanie got Bret, the game must feature a heart on the screen at all times, or have many hearts throughout the game. Thankfully, a lot of games use hearts on your life meter.
Lastly, she got me some Sweet Tarts conversation hearts because I cannot stand the Necco kind, but I love Sweet Tarts.
For dinner, she re-tried the cashew chicken dish we had for our anniversary, but replaced the vegetables with fruit to make it more like a pineapple chicken dish. It was pretty good.
That sounds really neat. Thanks for the info. The flowers sounded so beautiful. I love that kind too.
Reading about the neat things you two do for these occations is making me feel like an old, fuddy duddy couple. I never wanted to be like that (I don't think Steve never wanted to be like that though)so I will make an effort, once again. You never know! Thanks for the example.
