Our First Wedding Anniversary

January 29th, 2008 was the best day of my life, so it only seemed fit to celebrate that day this year. Being the slightly impoverished people that we are, we decided to make a nice dinner instead of dining out, and bought a gift for the two of us with the traditional theme of “paper”.

We purchased a poster for our living room as our gift to each other. It is a beautiful Mickey and Minnie painting entitled “True Love”. We have already hung it up and love it.

Adam and I had a wonderful anniversary. In the afternoon, we watched the video of our wedding ceremony and reminisced about that beautiful day. We laughed when Bishop Oviatt thought one of us (and we know who) was going to pass out. We got all choked up when we said “I Do” and kissed when we kissed in the video.

Dinner was Japanese Cashew Chicken served in beautiful Japanese dishes and eaten with chopsticks. We added some Japanese Lychee soda, a bottle of Meier’s, and some oriental cake things for dessert. We watched Pokemon the TV series episodes while we sat on the floor. Later, we each ate a slice of our year old wedding (reception) cake.

I am so grateful to have found, and married, my true love. Adam is more than I could have hoped for. I love him more and more every day. This last year has gone by so quickly, and all the bad times have already faded away, leaving nothing but happy memories of the first year of our eternal journey.

I love you forever Adam!!!!!!!!!!!!

“I can’t believe it’s been a year!” That’s what everyone keeps saying, but it’s true. It’s hard to believe it’s been a year. And what a great year it has been. Our relationship, financial situation, and our lives in general have had their ups and downs, but I have no regrets marrying Jennifer.

This year has been quite a learning experience. I knew marriage wouldn’t be easy. It’s difficult to take two lives and make them one. It has been hard and even painful at times. But those sad moments are mere teardrops in the ocean of love and joy I feel for Jenn, and because of Jenn.

While we spend most of our days with each other, we have also spent every single night with each other. No one has ever been asked to sleep on the couch or floor while the other sleeps in the bed. And our goal is to keep it that way. There were times that one of us felt guilty enough to voluntarily sleep elsewhere, but the other wouldn’t allow it. And even if we don’t actually sleep because of cold feet, kicking, elbowing, sleep talking, bed hogging, blanket stealing, etc., we are always there next to each other.

That’s the way it works. We fight, we make mistakes, and we say things we don’t mean, but we stay together. The hard work is so worth it. I’m so happy. I don’t know the last time I said that before Jenn came into my life. I feel like I’m only a year old now, because when this life began, that old one went away. My life is different. I’m different. I’m better because of Jenn, and want to be better for her. And I’m finally happy. Honestly and truly, down to the core HAPPY!

I love you, Jennifer!

J.A. Toons, Vol. 12

This is how our actual Christmas morning went. In fact, it happened more than this, but we ran out of frames. Looking back, I don't know why I said no. Normally, I would have been the one asking.

He's FINE!

Most of you have heard the story by now, but we haven't blogged in a while, and it was the most exciting thing to happen in our dull lives recently. I hope Jeremy doesn't mind if we tell the story, but here's how it happened from our perspective.

On Saturday, I received a text from Jordan saying Jeremy was in a car crash and taken to the hospital. I called my parents, who had heard nothing about it. My mom then called Kalli and she said that he was okay, but he hurt his back, and was taken by ambulance to the hospital to take x-rays. Although Kalli said that he was fine, my mom still heard the words "car crash," "hospital," "ambulance," and "x-rays." So my mom called me, and we all decided to go see him at the hospital.

Jenn and I arrived before my parents did. When we got there, we saw Kalli and Jeremy's friend, Tony, and his daughter in the waiting room. Kalli seemed very surprised and confused that we were all there. Just a few minutes later, Jeremy came walking out, looking a little stiff, but in one piece. That's when we got the whole story...

Turns out, Jeremy was in the front of a three-car crash. He was stopped and someone rear-ended the car behind him, which was pushed forward and hit Jeremy's car. He got out, walked around, and was talking with the police when they got there. They asked if he was okay. Jeremy said he was fine, but that his back hurt a little bit. So they decided to take him to the hospital as a precaution. They had him get back in his car (so they could remove him "properly"), put him in a brace and on a stretcher, and into the back of the ambulance. He said it was pretty embarrassing.

This was the chain of communication (as far as we know)... When it happened, obviously, Jeremy first called Kalli. Kalli then told Trevor, who was at work. Trevor works with Tony's daughter, so when Tony came to pick her up from work, he heard that Jeremy was in the hospital. At some point, Trevor also told Jordan, who texted us. We called my parents, who then called Kalli. So that's why Kalli was so confused at all of the attention. She had only told Trevor, but the next thing she knew, my mom called her about it, and all of us showed up at the hospital. When he got out, Jeremy called his kids and told them to stop scaring everybody, and that he was FINE!

He said it was probably best that he went to the hospital, as embarrassing as it all was. The doctor told him the muscles in his back were tightened, and it was going to get worse before it got better, and gave him some medication. On Sunday, he was in quite a bit of pain, but still insists that he's alright.

So it was a lot of hoopla over nothing major. But at least now Jeremy knows how much we care about him.

New Year, New Look

As you can see, we have once again changed the face of our blog. This is more of what I had envisioned when I made the picture of Jenn and I as pirates, I just got lazy. So we hope you like it. We thought about going all out and making a pirate music playlist (yes, I have quite a few pirate songs), but decided we liked our music the way it is. There are a couple of pirate songs, though.

Speaking of which, we have also updated our music playlist with a bunch more songs, and took off some that we were tired of. We might still remove some more, but if anyone out there has some favorites, we will certainly leave them on for you. The "random" shuffle seemed to randomly pick a lot of the same songs, and we got tired of them. But now it has nearly 90 songs, ranging from The Beatles, to Staind, to Disney, to Ayumi Hamasaki, and everything in between, so hopefully that will keep things nicely mixed.

Happy 2009!

Last night we went to Sara & Mike's for a New Year's Eve bash. We ate, played games, and watched the Travel Channel... Yes, the Travel Channel. They were showing a Disney marathon with stuff about Disney Cruises, Walt Disney World, Disneyland, etc. And, as you all know, my family loves Disney.

We were also watching it because there was a live stream where people could text a message and it would scroll along the bottom. We were reading and laughing at a lot of other people's New Year's Eve messages. Then a few of us decided to text our own. We didn't watch long enough to see if mine or Jeremy's texts made it, however, the entire nation (who were also silly enough to be watching the Travel Channel on New Year's Eve) got to see Jenn's text to me that said, "Adam - Here's to another wonderful year! ~ Jenn". It was very sweet, and cool that it was on national television.

After the games, everyone got tired and left before midnight. Jenn and I went home and did our usual New Year's Eve tradition (we've done it two years in a row, so it counts as a tradition), which is: watching The Simpsons while writing New Year's letters, because we used to write letters to each other everyday while we were dating. Then, at midnight, we kissed as the fireworks went off. It was a great way to start the new year.

We wish all of you the best for this year and beyond. Happy New Year!
