We finally finished our music playlist. You may not have noticed, but it only went up to artists/groups through the letter ‘R’ for the longest time. Of course it will never be completely finished, as we will continually add new songs we like and remove songs we’re tired of. We also plan on creating theme-based lists for holidays and such.
We have had a lot of positive, but some negative feedback on our music (not for the songs chosen but for the fact that it’s on the blog at all). We would just like to say a few words on that… When people come to visit our blog, it is the same as coming to visit our home. Our blog is a look into our lives and our personality. The stories we share, the pictures we post, the feelings we express, and the music we play are ways for everyone else to see us for who we are. We are family-oriented people who love music and art, and have a fascination with pirates.
The songs on the playlist are songs we mutually agreed on and each one was selected for a reason. We intentionally kept our love songs to each other off the list, and decided to only have songs about us together, or says something from us to all of you. Some are there as a tribute to one specific person, or a group of people we love. (For example, we know a few people who like Pink Floyd, so we added “Another Brick In The Wall,” as performed by a band we like, mixing their tastes with ours.)
We know that if we are in the car with my parents, we will listen to oldies music, and jazz if it’s just my dad. In Bret’s car, it would be good, clean music, and maybe an audiobook or LDS talk. With Jeremy, it’s the current popular music in the rock and pop genres. Amy plays a lot of Disney music for her kids. Sara’s family listens to mainly country music. Jenn’s parents prefer to talk rather than have music playing in the car, but showtunes and easy listening music can frequently be heard in their home. Ty will likely be listening to some upbeat acoustic music, and some classical stuff if Cami has a say in it.
In others’ homes, we see pictures hanging of their respective families, a humorous or profound quote that has meaning to them, or a picture of the Savior, showing their faith and belief to all who enter. My dad will usually be found watching sports while my mom reads. Jenn’s family might be watching Star Trek, Stargate, or an old movie. At Jeremy’s house, a video game is likely being played. Sara’s boys will usually be playing a car game or watching a racecar show, or Mike is watching how to make light bulbs or cook an interesting dish. Ty & Cami love to watch The Office.
Music is a large part of our lives. The purpose of the music on our blog is to set the mood, show our personality, and pay respect to others who have influenced our musical tastes over the years. You are more than welcome to turn down, turn off, or change the song. Although we would like you to give it a chance, no one is forcing you to listen. And anything that anyone finds questionable will be removed without offense. The option to turn it off is still yours, but the music player will stay.

I do believe that I offended someone!
I love this post. I usually end up muting it if others are around just because either Cubby is doing homework or someone is readying etc. Yet I know how you feel about having it be a part of your life and your families. I love how you know what the different members of your family like and are into. It is obvious by your list of what different members of your family are into, that we have varied interests and likes. That’s cool! That’s what makes life/families interesting/challenging!
I like your blog and seeing what you are into. I also like to broaden my horizons and check your music when I'm not disturbing someone around me. Like I said, I really love your blog. You are both so creative and talented. I check it every day. It helps me feel closer to you.
OXOXOXOX
